MANTA TABLE
MANTA TABLE
The Manta table is a new type of school table that was designed especially for the Bildungscampus Sonnwendviertel in Vienna. Instead of relying on miniature tables, the school was equipped with Manta tables in regular heights. All kids can sit next to each other and at the same height as their teachers, regardless of their size. The ergonomically correct posture is made possible by chairs with adjustable footrests. Every child is assigned a chair but not a fixed place in the classroom. The teacher, moving from table to table, doesn’t need to kneel down in order to talk to the children anymore. Everyone moves at eye level. Durable and solvent-free material we opted for powder-coated, medium-dense fiberboard. Metal cuttings in the wood provide the electrostatic charge necessary for the powder coating. A simple steel construction serves as the table frame. Two of the four table legs have wheels, enabling easy rearrangement. For the outside area, tables with phenol resin-coated boards and zinc-coated frames are used. The Manta table can be used and combined in many different areas – for example as a dining or an office table.
